Because finding the right food app is surprisingly hard โ especially if you have IBS, FODMAP intolerance, or multiple dietary restrictions. Most "best app" lists are paid placements. We wanted something honest.
If you search "best FODMAP apps" today, you'll find dozens of articles. Most are written by content farms, stuffed with affiliate links, and recommend the apps that pay the highest commission โ not the ones that actually work.
For people with IBS, the stakes are higher than choosing the wrong Netflix subscription. Using a FODMAP app with inaccurate data or missing products can mean real physical symptoms, anxiety at the grocery store, and wasted hours on a protocol that doesn't work because your "safe" foods were wrong.
Food App Directory is a niche, independent review site covering food tracking, FODMAP, diet coaching, and nutrition apps. We review each app against criteria that actually matter to people with dietary restrictions:
For each app we review, we:
We rate apps 1โ5 stars across five dimensions:
The overall rating is a weighted average. For FODMAP apps, data accuracy counts double โ because the whole point is medical dietary compliance, not UI aesthetics.
We accept no payments from app developers. No sponsored reviews, no affiliate commissions, no "featured placement" fees. The moment we take a cent from an app maker, this directory loses its value.
If an app is bad, we say so โ even if it's popular (see our Noom review). If an app has a specific limitation that's critical for IBS patients, we put it front and center โ even if it's annoying for the app's marketing team (see our Yuka review).
This directory was built by someone who lives with IBS, FODMAP intolerance, and lactose sensitivity. The grocery store anxiety is real. The frustration of scanning a product and not being sure if it's safe is real. The 10-minute Google searches trying to figure out if one ingredient is high-FODMAP โ that's real too.
We built the resource we wish existed: direct, honest, no bullshit.
Here's the honest picture as of 2026: no single app perfectly solves the problem for someone with combined FODMAP + lactose + gluten restrictions in the European market.
That gap is why this directory exists. We map the current landscape honestly so you can make the best choice available โ and we'll update it as better options emerge.
Found an error? An app has updated its features? We want to know. Data accuracy matters here more than most places.
We review all apps on a rolling basis and update pages when significant changes occur (major feature additions, pricing changes, new versions).
