Yuka

The world's most popular food scanner — 80M users, 6M products, zero FODMAP support

4.6/5 — Our rating
Nutrition 🇫🇷 French app ✗ No FODMAP ✓ Barcode scan
⚠️ Important for IBS/FODMAP users

Yuka does not support the FODMAP diet. It scores food on general nutritional quality (Nutri-Score), additives, and organic status — but has no FODMAP data whatsoever. If you have IBS and need FODMAP guidance, Yuka cannot help you. See Monash FODMAP or Fig instead.

  • Premium subscription ($14.99/year) required for full features
  • Doesn't handle combined restrictions (FODMAP + lactose + gluten)

Who It's For

Yuka is the perfect app for health-conscious consumers who want to understand the general nutritional quality of their food and avoid harmful additives. It's great for families wanting to eat cleaner and avoid E-numbers.

It is not for IBS patients. Yuka's scoring has nothing to do with FODMAP fermentable carbohydrates. A product can score 100/100 on Yuka and still trigger severe IBS symptoms. Many FODMAP patients use Yuka alongside a dedicated FODMAP app — they solve different problems.

Our Verdict
The best general food scanner — irrelevant for IBS/FODMAP management

Yuka has earned its 80 million users. The product database, UI, and additive analysis are best-in-class. If you want to understand what's in your food from a general health perspective, Yuka is hard to beat. But if you have IBS or follow the low-FODMAP diet, Yuka cannot help you — at all. The Nutri-Score it uses doesn't map to FODMAP safety. For IBS management: skip Yuka or use it alongside Monash FODMAP. They serve completely different needs.
